Amazing Times Visiting Central Park
New York City’s Central Park…
Who doesn’t love to relax in a nice park? There are plenty of parks all over the country. Each one is unique in its own way – some have jungle gyms for kids, others have grassy fields with plenty of shade trees, and others have basketball and tennis courts for adults to enjoy. No park, however, is quite as prominent and well-known as New York City’s Central Park.
Central Park’s wide-spread prominence likely comes from the size of the park, covering 843 acres. Central Park is open every day of the year, closing each day for only 5 hours at night. This allows for a large number of visitors to come to the park, averaging 38 million guests per year. The park contains 250 acres of lawns, 150 acres of lakes and streams, and 136 acres of woodlands. The perimeter of the park is 6 miles long. Throughout the park there are 9,000 benches, 26 baseball fields, 21 playgrounds, and 55 sculptures or monuments. The park even contains a carousel, a favorite of many young visitors. At each visitor center, guests can receive vital information about the park, recreation activities, and upcoming events. Depending upon the visitor center you go to, you might also enjoy a gift shop, information on educational and community programs, seasonal exhibits, or a board game area. You could spend days in the park and not see everything it has to offer.
While in Central Park people can choose to go on guided tours, participate in sporting activities, sightsee, or just relax. There are different areas located throughout the park that are designated for these different activities. There are also specific locations that are reserved for quiet enjoyment. At these places guests can relax without having music, sports, or other distractions to bother them.
With so many options of things to do in Central Park, it is the perfect place for any family or tour group to visit while in New York City. There will be something that entertains each member of your group, and no one will leave the park disappointed that they went.
